Here’s the most effective “cocktail” that removes mold and limescale and makes your washing machine smell great again:

The perfect combination: Citric acid + baking soda
Instead of vinegar, which can damage rubber seals and hoses with frequent use, pour this mixture directly into the drum:

200 g citric acid (dissolves limescale and removes odors).

2 tablespoons baking soda (acts as an abrasive and odor absorber).

Optional: A few drops of essential oil (lemon or eucalyptus) for added fragrance.

Why is it better than vinegar?

Odor: Citric acid is neutral, while vinegar leaves a characteristic odor that lingers in the laundry.

Gentle: In appropriate concentrations, citric acid is much gentler on the rubber parts of the washing machine.

Disinfection: It reliably removes fabric softener and soap residue, which are the main cause of mold in the seals.

Application (Cleaning):

Pour the mixture directly into the empty drum.

Select the cotton program with a temperature of at least 60°C (ideally 90°C if your washing machine allows it).

Let the wash cycle complete.
